If 'Crime And
Punishment' were a single in 2002 there'd be a gaggle of record executives
peering over Dostoyevsky's shoulder going, 'yeah yeah, we like the murder bit
and some of the prison stuff can stay but for fuck's sake keep it to 15 pages
and lose all that bloody thinking!' When 'Silent To The Dark' was released early
last year it was a jaunty, Fanclubby summer anthem which
just happened to have seven minutes of train noises slapped in the middle. So -
bish, bash, botch - here's the train-free version that won't scare Radio 1 but
is the artistic equivalent of smearing lipstick on the Mona Lisa. Top tune, low morals.
